Follow-up Trainings for Examiners on Madrid Protocol Operations and Trade Mark Examination

The ARISE+ IPR team will support the Follow-up Training on Madrid Protocol Operations and Trade Mark Examination for examiners from the IP Offices respectively of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia and Lao PDR in June 2020. The follow-up training will serve as subsequent sessions of the attachment training provided to these examiners by ARISE+ IPR and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in Manila, the Philippines during 5-9 August 2019.

The follow-up training will take place at the Brunei Darussalam Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO), the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) Cambodia and the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) Lao PDR. It will engage IPOPHL trainers with examiners from the respective offices and allow the trainers to oversee the examination of Madrid files in the offices. The trainers will also assess the examiners' progress and the result of their learnings from the attachment training and answer any queries that may arise during the examination process.

The Activity aims to strengthen the Madrid implementation and to achieve a more consistent approach in handling Madrid international registrations (IRs) and international applications (IAs) in the IP Offices of ASEAN Member States.
