Support to the maintenance and update of ASEAN TMview, ASEAN DesignView and ASEAN TMclass, and IT training for officials from Cambodia and Lao PDR

On 3-4 December 2019, ARISE+ IPR will organise two events in Alicante, Spain, at the premises of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Both events aim to help the ASEAN intellectual property offices maintain and update the regional IP databases — ASEAN TMview, ASEAN DesignView, and ASEAN TMclass — and help IT officials from Cambodia and Lao PDR improve their skills in using these IT tools.

As well as support the maintenance and update of ASEAN TMview, ASEAN DesignView, and ASEAN TMclass, IT experts will also offer training to IT officials from each ASEAN Member State and support the lead offices of these regional databases, namely the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). This will ensure the sustainability of the tools, and will go some way to setting up procedures that address technical and content-related issues.

In the meantime officials from Cambodia and Lao PDR will receive IT training. A goal exists to support IT experts in assessing the technical skills of IT officials from the Department of Intellectual Property of Cambodia and the Department of Intellectual Property of Lao PDR, to improve the officials’ efficiency in utilising the databases, and encourage them to transfer their knowledge to other colleagues in the respective IP offices.
