Feasibility Study on the Establishment of an ASEAN Trademark Registration System

As agreed by the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC) in November 2018, ARISE+ IPR will conduct this feasibility study on setting up an ASEAN trade mark registration system. The project will engage with senior legal experts, who will provide the legal, institutional, and administrative analysis of the ASEAN Member States’ (AMS) national trade mark systems combined with a comparative analysis of regional trade mark systems. During consultations with the AMS, the legal experts will identify the benefits of the envisioned regional system for each AMS and evaluate the potential impacts the establishment of a regional system could bring about in the future.

Under the framework of this study, ARISE+ IPR will also analyse the economic impact that trade mark activities in the region have had during the past ten years and will potentially have in the next 5-10 years.
